2018 Honda Accord 2.0T: Just Brilliant

When you have a winning formula, it seems rather silly to change anything, right? Well, Honda’s managed to find a winning formula in more than one of its vehicles, and despite making small tweaks and changes here and there, have also managed to keep their vehicles in top spot.
The latest “tweak” is the addition of a 2.0L turbocharged engine in the already popular Honda Accord. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any better.
For those well versed in the Honda world of engineering and engine-sharing, you’ll note that the 2.0T is the same engine found in the rip-roaring Honda Civic Type R, however, it’s been detuned and relaxed a little for its job in the Accord. Instead of 306 ponies (in the Type R), Honda engineers relaxed the output to a respectable (but still more than enough) 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0L turbo is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, which will help the 2018 Honda Accord hit 100km/hr from a standstill in just 5.5 seconds.
For those lamenting the passing of the previous generation V6, you’ll know that that 0-100km/hr time is actually 0.1 second faster with the turbocharged mill.
It’s not all about performance numbers for the 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T, though.
From the outside, the Honda Accord sports the signature Honda wing chrome grille up front, with sophisticated lines from nose to tail. With a decidedly gran coupe silhouette, the Honda Accord asserts itself squarely in the modern car design lineup along with the best of them.
Inside, you’ll find standard Honda fare including room for five, and only one infotainment screen (gone are the days of the dual layout), which makes the entire system that much more streamlined and easier to use. There are even actual volume and tuning knobs instead of just touchscreen “buttons,” again adding to the ease of use.
