This marked the beginning of a tradition for John and Jenny, who look to find that special circumstance, that heartfelt need, of those that could do with a little smile in their lives.
John Sellar and his wife Jenny have a cottage on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. A beautiful spot that they enjoy and occasionally rent out. A few years ago, they were approached by a family from Halifax looking to rent for a week. When John told them that the cottage was already booked, the lady shared her story - and what a sad story it was.
You see, the family’s daughter was suffering from an incurable form of brain cancer. John and Jenny were touched by the family’s desire to provide their daughter with some distraction and quality family time. After a brief conversation, John and Jenny called the family back and offered them use of their cottage at no charge. The family was elated and gratefully accepted the generous offer. When the week came, the family arrived at the beautiful Argyle Shore to a clean cottage with the welcome mat out, and lo and behold, a pantry and refrigerator fully stocked with food for their stay. John and Jenny had provided everything needed for a relaxing and enjoyable week.
This marked the beginning of a tradition for John and Jenny, who look to find that special circumstance, that heartfelt need, of those that could do with a little smile in their lives. Every year they see to it that some deserving family benefits from their generosity. It’s enough for them to know that this simple act of kindness can make a tremendous difference in the lives of those who really need some special time together as a family.
